The Indian Summer we've been enjoying this week. Not a cloud in the sky and temps in the high 20s.
There was a discussion on BBC R4's Today programme about whether this qualifies as an Indian Summer - shouldn't it be in October or November? It also turns out to be a rather politically incorrect term - Native American Summer would be more 21st century.

Gainsborough Guildhall
The Guildhall (centre) was completed in 1966 and was Gainsborough Council's offices. It became West Lindsey Council's offices when the borders were redrawn in 1974 and in 2008 West Lindsey Council moved to new offices in the Marshall's Yard retail development. The Guildhall's future seems uncertain.

Wisbech Castle
Wisbech, Cambridgeshire
There has been a castle here since Norman times. Today's "castle" dates back to 1816 and is an ecclectic mixture of Regency and Thurloes mansion architectural styles.

Pilgrim Father
Mosaics produced by local school children are popular across Lincolnshire (and the rest of the UK?).
A series of mosaics along the river walk in Gainsborough illustrates the history of the town.
This mosaic shows a Pilgrim Father who would have worshipped in secret in Gainsborough Old Hall before departing to form a colony in the more peaceful and tolerant Holland of the early 17th century. Eventually the Pilgrim Fathers left Holland to join the Mayflower and start the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts, USA.

The Viking Way between Tealby and Walesby passes this side of the fences and gateway at Risby. To the left is a store of eggs for sale. It's £1 for half a dozen fresh free range eggs that cook like eggs used to.

Kites @ Belton House
Belton House is participating in this weekend's Heritage Open Days when hundreds of English properties offer free access.
Nerd fact: Belton house was Lady Catherine de Bourgh's residence (Rosings) in the BBC's 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice.

Gigalinc - gigapixel images navigated via Kinect
I was pleasantly surprised when the popular Silicon Valley tech news website, TechCrunch, featured an article on it today, complete with video of the weekend's happenings:

Well done @samuelcox for this high profile coverage!
Samuel's own gigalinc site (mentioned in the above article) is at: http://gigalinc.co.uk/
TechCrunch is one of the news content sites now overseen by Arianna Huffington after AOL's purchase of The Huffington Post. UK readers might remember her as Arianna Stasinopoulos, Cambridge University graduate, BBC presenter and muse of Bernard Levin in the 1970s.
