VW was probably the most popular manufacturer at the Lincs: Evolution exhibition. It wasn't all vintage Beetles however. Recent VW hatchbacks and camper vans also featured.

Linseed
A couple of months ago we saw this field covered in blue flowers. The harvest of linseed is ripening nicely now.
Linseed is used in the production of linoleum (the clue's in the name I guess!), putty and linseed oil for treating wood (famously, cricket bats). With synthetic replacements for all of these, the main use today is in food: linseed is high in omega 3.

Washingborough near Lincoln.
On the left of the picture is the Water Rail Way, a Sustrans path that follows the route of a disused railway running from Lincoln to Boston. On the right is the South Delph, a drainage ditch (currently carrying a lot of water) that runs parallel to the River Witham.

Skywatch Friday (Waddington Airshow)
In this photo Frecce Tricolori, an Italian display team, are trying to create the world's longest Italian flag (is that a Guinness World Records category?). The team were very entertaining - as well as their airborne antics, the Italian commentator kept the audience fully involved: "Another incredible manouevre" and "Get your cameras ready ... 3 ... 2 ... 1"). Well worth seeing ... and hearing if you get the chance.

I <3 Waddington
Props to the Black Eagles for adjusting their display to paint this horizontally under low cloud - it's usually done vertically.
The Black Eagles display team in formation as seen from the ground. The black planes are painted with attractive eagle motifs on the undersides. They will perform at another two UK airshows this summer.

Waddington Airshow
Waddington is one of the country's major airshows and featured international aircraft and teams from as far afield as South Korea and New Zealand. Local favourites included the Red Arrows, an RAF WWII fly past and duelling Tornadoes (very loud).
It was mostly overcast, windy and cold with rain at times. 15C was the max temperature!
