Bomber Command Memorial Spire

It's part of a new memorial to commemorate Bomber Command's contribution to WWII.

The height of the spire is the same as the Avro Lancaster's wingspan (30m) and the spire is 5m wide at the bottom - the width of the Lancaster's wing. The Avro Lancaster can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/lincoln_eye/5922576247/

The memorial is not yet finished and will open to visitors later this year.
