Pilgrim Father

Pilgrim Father
Pilgrim Father, a photo by lincoln_eye on Flickr.

Mosaics produced by local school children are popular across Lincolnshire (and the rest of the UK?).

A series of mosaics along the river walk in Gainsborough illustrates the history of the town.

This mosaic shows a Pilgrim Father who would have worshipped in secret in Gainsborough Old Hall before departing to form a colony in the more peaceful and tolerant Holland of the early 17th century. Eventually the Pilgrim Fathers left Holland to join the Mayflower and start the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts, USA.
