Shabby Chic

I've run out of good skies for Skywatch Friday for the moment, so instead here is some classic 1960s architecture in central Lincoln.

  1. Yep, nicely shabby. To think that when this was built the architect probably felt pleased and perhaps a little proud. Sadly there are building pretty much like this in most of our towns and cities. We should put a plaque on some of these buildings with the names of the architect, the builder and the person who asked for it!

  2. With a bit of TLC it could look alright again. There is nothing as ugly as the recent past. But I think 60s architecture has gone through its ugly phase and is now starting to look classic, as longs as it's maintained. It'll be hard to preserve some buildings - those funny materials and concrete cancer to contend with.
