Sir Joseph Banks Conservatory

This picture is for Australia Day.

Sir Joseph Banks was from a Lincolnshire family, travelled with Captain Cook on his first voyage of the South Seas, mapped the East Coast of Australia and catalogued many types of plant found in the Southern Hemisphere. Later, he was instrumental in setting up the then colony of New South Wales and remained as an advisor to the government on Australian matters.

The conservatory is a tropical hothouse filled with the sorts of plants that Banks catalogued and is located at The Lawn, Lincoln.
